Three authors to discuss works Thursday

Louisiana authors Ingrid Green Adams, Vivian Collins and Hilda Miller will discuss their new books at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie.

Ingrid Green Adams, Is There a Doctor in The House?
Green says hers is a book of healing inspirational poetry. It contains five sections of poetry about the healing processes “in our own homes, schools, hospitals and doctor offices, workplaces and churches.” Each section contains eight poems for a total of 40 poems. Adams is the author of four books of inspirational poetry: Of Spirit and Truth, As I Ponder of Days Gone By, From the Mouths of Babes, and Get Right or Get Left. She is a 1983 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Southern University at New Orleans. She retired from the Department of Homeland Security as an Intelligence Research Specialist in 2003. Adams is the owner of Green’s Consulting Company specializing in motivational speaking.

Vivian Collins, Why Not a Woman?
Pastor/evangelist Vivian Thornton Collins says she wrote the book “having experienced her own share of life’s difficulties. She says she has a unique message for hurting wives and mothers everywhere. She teaches a bible study in her home once a month and has an hour-long radio program every Sunday night. She has ministered in Nigeria, Ghana and Togo in Africa, in the Holy Land, in most of the U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska, and in many parts of the Caribbean.

Hilda Miller, Loving Someone Behind Bars
Devastated when the father of her four small children drowned while swimming in Lake Pontchartrain, Hilda Miller-Jones struggled to survive. A few years later, she met up with a man she had gone to grade school with and had a crush on--Hank Miller. He was home from the Marines and seemed to be the perfect match for Hilda's needs – a husband for her, a father for her young children and a provider for the whole family. Little could she know that their passion would end in divorce, and 30 days later, Hank would be convicted of murder and sentenced to fifty years in prison. For the next twenty years, Hilda went on with her life, trying to do her best to raise her family and further her own career. But then Hank began calling and didn't stop until she agreed to see him in prison and, she again fell madly in love with him and remarried him--in spite of the shackles that bound him.
