More than 200 artifacts from the Special Collections Department of East Baton Rouge Parish Library can now be viewed online on Google Arts and Culture due to a new partnership between Google and the Library. Users will be able to see historic photographs, ephemera and many other treasures of the Library by visiting this site.
Specially curated virtual exhibits have been developed for online visitors who can discover an interactive exhibit, curated by experts in the Special Collections Department at EBRPL.
Some of the most important items of the online exhibition are:
Local African-American activists’ attempts to integrate the City Park swimming pool in 1963.
An oral history with African-American activist and Metro Councilwoman Pearl George recorded by the YWCA in 1983.
