Four South Louisiana authors to discuss “Things That Go Bump in the Night” at the Main Baton Rouge Library

Four Louisiana authors — Diana Rowland, Em Shotwell, Eden Butler and Cherie Claire — will discuss how magic, monsters and myths inspire their storytelling with “Things That Go Bump in the Night: Magic and Monsters in the Deep South” at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the Main Library at Goodwood in Baton Rouge. From folklore to local legend, to modern creations, the authors will elaborate on their work and then offer a question and answer period. Books from all four authors will be on sale through Conundrum Books of St. Francisville and available for signing.
The authors are:
Diana Rowland is an urban fantasy writer and is best known for her Kara Gillian series and White Trash Zombie series. She has worked as a bartender, a blackjack dealer, a pit boss, a street cop, a detective, a computer forensics specialist, a crime scene investigator and a morgue assistant.
Em Shotwell is the author of “Blackbird Summer,” “Blackbird Falling” and “The Chans” (short story, part of the “Blackbird” series) and the “Enchanted” series. Shotwell thinks the most interesting characters are the ones who live on the sidelines, and that small towns often hide the biggest secrets.
Eden Butler is an editor and writer of fantasy, mystery and contemporary romance novels and the nine-times great-granddaughter of an English pirate. When she’s not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrowesque ancestor, Eden patiently waits for her Hogwarts letter, edits, reads and spends way too much time watching rugby, “Doctor Who” and New Orleans Saints football.
Cherie Claire is the author of the Viola Valentine paranormal mystery series set in South Louisiana and “Haunted Lafayette, Louisiana” (The History Press) under her real name of CherĂ© Coen. Needless to say she enjoys a good ghost story, in addition to other supernatural elements.

Tuesday Ebook Spotlight: Butler's 'Fall'

Eden Butler’s latest contemporary romance, “Fall,” is now available for only 99 cents as a download.

Here’s the book description:

A secret smile.

A haunting kiss.

Life – Interrupted.

Keilen Rivers was the best Lily Campbell never had. He was the promise she didn’t let herself keep. After all, nothing in life seems meant to last, and love is no exception.

When Lily’s life takes an unexpected and tragic turn, she leaves behind both her island home and the boy she could have loved to protect the only family she has left.

But sometimes life takes without giving. Sometimes you cannot bend, only break. And when her career spirals out of her control, Lily can only watch as everything she worked for falls to ruin.

But some lies are hard to come back from. And some promises are made to be broken. Sometimes going home again is the only thing that can save you. But first you have to break. First you have to fall.

Tuesday Ebook Spotlight: Butler's 'Infinite Us'

Eden Butler is a writer of many talents, editing and writing fantasy, mystery and contemporary romance novels. Plus she’s the nine-times great-granddaughter of an honest-to-God English pirate, so how’s that for cool?

Butler’s latest book is “Infinite Us,” what bestselling author J.A. DeRouen calls “a gripping story of the roots that define us, the hardships that test us, and the healing power of love and acceptance. It's a testament to how far we've come and how very far we have to go.”

Here’s the book description:

Nash Nation loves zeroes and ones, over-sized monitors and late office hours. He’s too busy taking over the world to make time for relationships—that is, until his new neighbor Willow O’Bryant barges into his life, and now Nash can’t shake the feeling that this isn’t the first time she’s interrupted his world.

Then, the dreams start. And in the dreams—memories.

Memories of a girl named Sookie who couldn’t count on love or friendship, never mind forever. Memories of a library and a boy called Isaac and secrets made in private that destroyed his world.

The memories seem real, but who do they belong to?

When Nash and Willow discover the truth, life as they know it unravels.

The bridge between this life and the next is shored up by blood and bone and memory. Sometimes, that bridge leads to the place we’ve always wanted to be.

“Infinite Us” is only 99 cents to download today, the book’s launch day, at the following online booksellers:

Tuesday ebook spotlight: Eden Butler

Eden Butler is an editor and writer of fantasy, mystery and contemporary romance novels, not to mention that she's the nine-times great-granddaughter of an honest-to-God English pirate! She attributes her genealogy to the reason why she breaks rules and drinks rum.

When she’s not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrow-esque ancestor, Eden patiently waits for her Hogwarts letter, edits, reads and spends way too much time watching rugby, Doctor Who and New Orleans Saints football.

Butler is the author of the “Thin Love” series, the latest of which, “Thick and Thin (Book 3),” was published late last year with book two, “Thick Love,” published in 2015.

You can download the first book in the series, “Thin Love,” for only 99 cents! And there’s plenty more to enjoy from this author, who states on her author page that she is “currently living under teenage rule alongside her husband in southeast Louisiana. Please send help.”
