Four South Louisiana authors to discuss “Things That Go Bump in the Night” at the Main Baton Rouge Library

Four Louisiana authors — Diana Rowland, Em Shotwell, Eden Butler and Cherie Claire — will discuss how magic, monsters and myths inspire their storytelling with “Things That Go Bump in the Night: Magic and Monsters in the Deep South” at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2019, at the Main Library at Goodwood in Baton Rouge. From folklore to local legend, to modern creations, the authors will elaborate on their work and then offer a question and answer period. Books from all four authors will be on sale through Conundrum Books of St. Francisville and available for signing.
The authors are:
Diana Rowland is an urban fantasy writer and is best known for her Kara Gillian series and White Trash Zombie series. She has worked as a bartender, a blackjack dealer, a pit boss, a street cop, a detective, a computer forensics specialist, a crime scene investigator and a morgue assistant.
Em Shotwell is the author of “Blackbird Summer,” “Blackbird Falling” and “The Chans” (short story, part of the “Blackbird” series) and the “Enchanted” series. Shotwell thinks the most interesting characters are the ones who live on the sidelines, and that small towns often hide the biggest secrets.
Eden Butler is an editor and writer of fantasy, mystery and contemporary romance novels and the nine-times great-granddaughter of an English pirate. When she’s not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrowesque ancestor, Eden patiently waits for her Hogwarts letter, edits, reads and spends way too much time watching rugby, “Doctor Who” and New Orleans Saints football.
Cherie Claire is the author of the Viola Valentine paranormal mystery series set in South Louisiana and “Haunted Lafayette, Louisiana” (The History Press) under her real name of Cheré Coen. Needless to say she enjoys a good ghost story, in addition to other supernatural elements.
