The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge in partnership with First Lady of Louisiana Donna Edwards, is conducting an essay contest for eighth-grade students in an 11-parish region. Winners of the essay contest will receive a special invitation from the First Lady to attend An Evening at the Governor’s Mansion with Joey Alexander on Feb. 16. Joey Alexander is a 14 year-old internationally recognized piano prodigy, known for his jazz improvisational skills.
Winners will have the opportunity to meet the Governor and First Lady, as well as Joey Alexander, who will perform for invited guests. Eighth grade students in the following parishes are eligible to participate (East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Ascension, Livingston, Tangipahoa, Washington, St. Helena, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee).
